Album Update and Compilation News

It's been some time now since I last gave any update on this site (over a year, in fact) but, while not much of note has transpired in that time, I do have some updates that I hope will be of interest. First of all, Æþelruna will be appearing on an upcoming Bathory tribute album from Helith Records and Mirkwood Productions with a cover of Mother Earth Father Thunder due for release later this year. New Aethelruna Demo Available for Free Download

After a long wait, a new two track demo is now available to download free of charge from the official Æþelruna BandCamp page. The first track evokes the conversion era in Anglo-Saxon England, taking inspiration from later Old Saxon sources; the second track is rooted in the modern Theodist tradition, being a rendition of the popular Weonde Song set to original music. Both tracks were written and performed by Æþelruna, with lyrics for Þunor ƿeoha ðisne ealh by Swain Wodening, drum programming by Sam Wale, and mixing and mastering by Sam Wale Productions. Demo Progress Update #1

This is likely the longest time it has taken any person to record a few tracks for a simple demo, however, life is full of distractions and some are more important than others. One huge distraction—a Masters dissertation on Anglo-Saxon heathenry—is now finally out of the way, which has given me more time to focus on Æþelruna and where the project is ultimately heading (although I am also actively seeking a publisher for the dissertation, as well as another). Unfortunately, one of my three original tracks, as well as my cover of Forefather's Wudugast aren't sounding the way I would like....

The New Demo

It has been several years now since the release of On Modranihte in 2011 and since then Æþelruna has only made brief appearances on two compilations; the free-to-download, 27 track Burzum tribute, Forsvunnet Filosofem (Mirkwood/Wodfreca, 2012) and the limited Hwit Wyrm ofer Angelcynne (Wodfreca, 2013). http://youtu.be/z0o_jIp0IAo All four of these tracks are available for free at the Æþelruna Bandcamp page.
